Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Podify collects, how and why we use it, and the rights you have. We handle your information in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Last updated: 20 July 2026
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Podify ("Podify", "we", "us" or "our") provides a subscription streaming service giving you access to over 2 million podcasts and more than 40,000 live radio stations, ad-free and on any device. Podify is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy.
If you have any questions about this policy or about how we handle your personal data, or you wish to exercise any of your rights, please email us at contact@podify-uk.com. We deal with privacy queries by email.
2. Data we collect
We collect and process the following categories of personal data:
- Account and contact data: the email address you use to register, and any account settings or preferences you choose.
- Payment data: when you start a trial or subscription, your card details are collected and processed by our third-party payment processor. We receive limited information such as the card type, the last four digits, the expiry date and the outcome of a payment. We do not store your full card number.
- Usage and listening data: information about how you use the service, such as the podcasts and stations you play, your library, downloads, playback history and the recommendations we generate for you.
- Device, technical and cookie data: information such as your device type, browser, operating system, IP address, approximate location derived from your IP address, and data collected through cookies and similar technologies (see our cookie policy).
- Communications data: the content of any messages you send us, for example when you contact support.
3. How and why we use your data
We only use your personal data where the law allows us to. The lawful bases we rely on are set out below.
To provide the service (lawful basis: performance of a contract)
- Create and manage your account.
- Provide access to podcasts, live radio, downloads and your personalised library.
- Take payment for your trial and subscription and manage renewals and cancellations.
- Provide customer support and respond to your enquiries.
To run and improve our business (lawful basis: legitimate interests)
- Keep the service secure and prevent fraud and misuse.
- Understand how the service is used so we can maintain, troubleshoot and improve it.
- Personalise recommendations and the content we show you.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against your rights and freedoms and only proceed where they are not overridden.
With your consent
- Setting non-essential cookies, such as analytics and performance cookies.
- Sending optional marketing communications, where you have opted in. You can withdraw consent at any time.
To meet our legal obligations (lawful basis: legal obligation)
- Keeping accounting and tax records and complying with applicable law and regulatory requirements.
4. Payment processing
Payments for the £1.95 trial and the recurring £19.95 monthly subscription are handled by a third-party payment processor that is certified to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your full card details are entered directly with that processor. Podify does not store your full card number. We receive only the limited data we need to manage your subscription, such as the last four digits of your card, the expiry date and whether a payment succeeded or failed.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the service, remember your preferences and, with your consent, to understand how the service is used. You can control non-essential cookies at any time. For full details of the cookies we use and how to manage them, please see our cookie policy.
6. Sharing your data and our processors
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary and with appropriate safeguards, including with:
- Service providers and processors who act on our instructions, such as our payment processor, hosting and infrastructure providers, and analytics and email providers.
- Professional advisers such as legal and accounting advisers where reasonably necessary.
- Authorities and third parties where we are required to do so by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Podify, our users or others.
Where a third party acts as our processor, we put a written contract in place that requires them to keep your data secure and to use it only for the purposes we specify.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers may process personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as an adequacy decision by the UK Government or the use of standard contractual clauses (including the UK International Data Transfer Addendum), so that your data receives an equivalent level of protection.
8. How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy. In general, we keep account and usage data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. We keep records relating to payments and transactions for as long as required to meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations. When data is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it securely.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Access: to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- Erasure: to ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances.
- Restriction: to ask us to restrict how we process your data in certain circumstances.
- Objection: to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time.
- Portability: to receive certain data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent: where we rely on your consent, to withdraw it at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, please email contact@podify-uk.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the time limits set by law, normally within one month.
10. How to complain to the ICO
We hope to resolve any concern you raise directly. If you are not satisfied, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns before you contact the ICO, so please do get in touch with us first.
11. Children and age
Podify is intended for adults aged 18 and over. The service is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our service or to legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you. Please check back from time to time to stay informed.
